WELCOME!
The North Eastern Area is one of fifteen BMFA areas in the United Kingdom and stretches from Teesside in the South to Whitehaven and Carlisle in the West, and North as far as the Scottish Border.
Founded on the 4th August 1946 by representatives from Stockton, Newcastle, Seaham and Eston model flying clubs, the first meeting lasted five hours and a full constitution based on that originally drafted by the Midland Area was adopted; A report of the days’ events appeared in the October 1946 issue of Aeromodeller magazine. Following the creation of “BMFA Scotland” as the fifteenth BMFA Area the North Eastern Area is now considerably smaller with around thirty affiliated clubs representing around 900 members, excluding country members (those not members of a specific club).
The Area administer model flying on our local MOD site at Albemarle Barracks to the North West of Newcastle upon Tyne, where there are regular meetings for radio control, free flight and control line disciplines, full details of what is on and when can be found on the events page.
